Broadway market in Tooting hasn’t really had much to shout about until now.
Enter Plot, and suddenly one of the largest covered markets in London is well on the way to changing its image forever. Whilst its slightly smaller neighbour Tooting Market (not the same place, as is a common misconception) has seen a gradual makeover in recent years to put itself on a par with the likes of Brixton Village, Broadway market has always seemed a feat too to great to makeover.
The suitably urban market surrounding makes for a quirky juxtaposition in the form of Plot. A marble top counter in a large L shape is the focal point here, with cool grey hanging pendant lights decorating the ceiling. Whilst the bar seats are clearly the best in the house, two large wooden benches are available for larger parties.
The food is tapas style in all shapes and sizes – expertly cooked pork belly being the absolute pinnacle (we got two) as well as cauliflower cheese served al dente. A moreish and not-too-heavy Bakewell tart with orange cream made for an ideal sharing dessert.
Prices are in line with south-west London standards (not cheap), but still absolutely worth it.
Plot is a hidden gem of an eatery that likely won’t stay hidden for long.
